Veloren Game Review
Veloren is a multiplayer voxel RPG inspired by games like Cube World, Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Dwarf Fortress and Minecraft. Developed in the fancy Rust programming language, it is open source and fully free to play. It has a huge community, with developers, artists and players working together to develop the game.
The gameplay is typical of games in this genre, with the player having complete freedom to explore the large voxel world. This includes being able to fly using hand gliders, swim and climb walls. The player will also encounter mobs, giant trees and 5-tier dungeon levels, all of which add challenge to the game. There is also an economy system based on currency, which the player can trade with villagers and merchants, as well as a crafting system that allows the creation of weapons, armor, tools and food items.
During the character creation process, the player can choose between six different races: human, orc, dwarf, elf, undead and danari. This is purely cosmetic, however, as the races do not create any bonuses.
The game is available to download from the official website in numerous ways, including a direct-download with a launcher that keeps it up to date, Flatpak and Snap. It is a relatively small download and won't take up too much space on your computer. There is also a release party happening on the official server for the game right now.
